About this class: The change of seasons brings new focus. During this winter, Dosha Class will practice asanas to create warmth, improve circulation, and stimulate the body and mind to lift the energy level to create optimal health. Winter is a season of dry, cold air. However, it does not have to be the cold and flu season when illness abounds.

According to Ayurveda winter is the season of Vata (Space+Air) and Kapha (Water+Earth ) that means these two doshas may tend toward imbalance. Do you feel irritability, depression, lethargy, heaviness, lethargy, congestion, fatigue, or poor circulation? Emotionally do you experience unexpressed emotion, depression grief, sadness?

During this season it is important to make choices that will keep your Vata and Kapha in balance, which means asana practice, foods, spices that are warming, strengthening and stimulating for digestion (healthy digestion = strong immunity)

According to Ayurveda asana practice should be done in harmony with one's individual constitutional type (Dosha). The purpose of practice is to keep the doshas in their proper flow, to sustain them as forces of health and vitality. It aims at preventing the doshas from accumulating and starting the disease process. In this class we will explore asanas that are beneficial to your specific constitutional type (dosha).

What's your dosha? Find out now.

About this Series: Yoga is beneficial to the mind, body, and soul. Each time you step on your mat you open yourself to a new experience; a new opportunity to grow. Increasing flexibility and relieving stress are well known benefits of yoga. Yet just as importantly strength is also a major component of yoga. Attempting arm balances and inversions can sometimes become quite a challenge due to lack of upper body strength, especially in women. By incorporating kettlebell training, you will align, balance, and strengthen the entire body and achieve so much more on and off your yoga mat.

Kettlebell Yoga is a low impact workout focusing on whole body movement linked with asana in one dynamic full hour session. All levels welcome.

About this Event: Reiki is an amazing natural method of healing. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. Paired with Restorative Yoga and gentle Thai bodywork, Reiki will work to open, heal and restore your physical, mental and spiritual self.

Together we will move through gentle restorative yoga movements and individually receive hands-on Reiki and gentle Thai bodywork. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us all.

Mary Lou is a 2nd level Reiki Practioner and Thai bodyworker trained at the esteemed Thai Bodywork School of Evanston. She is thankful to her teachers past and present who've led her on this healing journey and to share its gifts with her students.
