Yoga Bootcamp
will challenge and empower both the beginner and seasoned athlete
with a fun and fast-paced workout.
By incorporating Vinyasa flow, balance and strength-building asana and circuit-style
training, you will sculpt long lean muscles, improve endurance, lose weight and
burn more body fat. Each class will leave you feeling strong, balanced and relaxed,
both inside and out.
Join Mary Lou every Monday night for 8 weeks in this fun and supportive
class designed to kickstart your training routine. Each class is designed to be different, fun and challenging
using Mary Lou's proven training methods from Yoga, Boxing, Capoeira,
and core building exercises.

YOGA BOOTCAMP

Take it up a notch and bring your workout outside every Saturday at
nearby Brooks Park. Located less than 1 mile fron Shanti. Meet us
on the northeast corner of the park, closest to Harlem ave, in the
first 15-20min of class.
Mary Lou personally designs each boot camp with one goal in mind: To challenge and empower you to transform yourself using fitness as the platform. Each class incorporates dynamic, accessible and fun routines from martial arts, yoga, interval training, obstacle courses and bootcamp style drills. And it’s all done outdoors, in nearby Brooks Park enjoying fresh air, comaraderie and the spirit of being outside.
In the event of severe weather or thunderstorms, class will be held indoors at the park field house, meet us at the northeast entrance.

What is SUP Yoga?
Try the fastest growing sport just arrived to Chicago, Stand Up Paddleboarding, (or SUP) cleverly combined with Yoga. No, it's not for extreme athletes, its an incredible way to practice yoga on water while building whole body strength and balance.
Shanti is offering a special discount for all current students to try out SUP Yoga. Weekly classes going on now at Kayak Chicago's Montrose beach location every Sunday, or contact us to set up a private class (minimum 3 students).

Yoga can enhance the young student’s performance in sports, sharpen focus while taking tests and ease anxiety. In this weekly class learn postures that increase balance, strength and flexibility. We will also explore numerous breathing exercises and meditation techniques to ease travels through the teen years and establish a foundation that can blossom into a life-long practice. Be prepared to sweat, have fun and soften into yourself. Dare yourself to dig deeper into your true nature and uncover the bliss that already exists. It's like a pep rally for your soul!

Skokie Lagoons Boat Launch on Tower Rd
Kayaking in the calm waters of the Skokie Lagoons promotes a sense
of peace and well-being, both physical and spiritual. The practice
of yoga offers many benefits, from increased flexibility and strength
to a deeper sense of connection with the natural beauty around us.
It is therefore a natural fit to combine sea kayaking with yoga. This
trip offers yoga before your guided kayaking trip with instruction,
all gear included and the invitation to stay after with a potluck
picnic.
The Skokie Lagoons are a wildlife refuge just north of Chicago. Expect to spot deer, great blue heron, turtles, and many varieties of birds. The water is calm and peaceful - an ideal location for learning to kayak! Learn more...

ALL ABOUT BALANCE: Finding Stability On and Off Your Mat
With Caryn Gallagher
Explore grounding techniques that result in a sense of balance both on and off the mat. Facing challenges (both physical and mental) on our mats will make those same challenges off our mat seem effortless. Explore using the breath as a tool: We will practice prana (upward spreading breath) and apana (downward contracting breath) to move beyond the external forms of asanas and creating optimal energy flow.
Removing the ego is a pivotal component of a yoga practice. Learn to balance sthira (strength) and sukha (ease) to find your true “edge”, dissolve areas of tensions, and be truly present in your practice.

MOM AND BABY—YOGA FOR TWO
(Moms and babies, 6 weeks to crawling too much to do yoga!)
This multi-level postpartum yoga class is specifically designed to strengthen your body after giving birth, and allow you to practice yoga with your baby. You will regain the strength of your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, develop inner and outer strength, and meet other new moms and babies, and of course bond with your new baby.
